FUTURE Student Animated Film Night

Przyszłość już od dawna wyobrażamy sobie w ciemnych barwach: tworząc dystopie, wizje apokalipsy… Czy potrafimy jeszcze wyobrazić sobie przyszłość, która niesie nadzieję? 

Pokaz poświęcony jest studenckim filmom animowanym, które odnoszą się do pojęcia przyszłości rozumianej szeroko i wielowymiarowo. Prezentowane prace podejmują refleksję nad przemianami w komunikacji i technologii, nad rozwojem sztucznej inteligencji i kryzysem klimatycznym, ale poszukują też nowych form opowiadania, eksperymentując z techniką i językiem animacji. 

Po pokazie zapraszamy na spotkanie ze studentami i wykładowcami, podczas którego porozmawiamy o prezentowanych filmach, o lękach, które wyrażają, o tym, czy film animowany i teatr lalek mają szanse przetrwać. A może nas uratują? 

For a long time now, we have tended to imagine the future in dark colours – through dystopias, apocalyptic visions, and scenarios of collapse. But are we still capable of imagining a future that offers hope? 

This screening is dedicated to student animated films that explore the idea of the future in a broad and multifaceted way. The selected works reflect on transformations in communication and technology, the development of artificial intelligence, and the climate crisis, while also seeking new forms of storytelling through experimentation with animation techniques and visual language. 

Following the screening, we invite audiences to join a discussion with students and lecturers.  

Together, we will talk about the films presented, the fears they express, and whether animated film and puppet theatre stand a chance of surviving. Or perhaps they will save us?
