impAKT-INterior

To kolejna odsłona interdyscyplinarnego projektu impAKT, który jest wynikiem unikatowej współpracy Politechniki Białostockiej (Koło Naukowe Forma i Laboratorium AuReLa) oraz zespołu twórczego złożonego z przedstawicieli trzech kierunków – aktorskiego, reżyserii i technologii teatru lalek – Akademii Teatralnej im. Aleksandra Zelwerowicza, Filii w Białymstoku. 

Projekt stanowi nowatorskie połączenie teatru oraz technologii sztucznej inteligencji (AI). Temat “ImpAKT-INterior” odnosi się do koncepcji „cyfrowego lustra”, w którym człowiek w konkretnej przestrzeni może zobaczyć, jak interpretuje go technologia. Każda edycja tego projektu dotyka innych aspektów. W tym spotkaniu chcemy badać wpływ przestrzeni poprzez kontekst aktora w przestrzeni realistycznej i figury poruszanej na makiecie. Ruchy będą rejestrowane przez kamery i w czasie rzeczywistym przekształcane przez algorytmy AI w dynamiczne, cyfrowe wizualizacje wypełniające przestrzeń. 

Spektakl bada granice artystycznej ekspresji w erze cyfrowej. Wizualizacje są napędzane skomplikowanymi wpisami tekstowymi (promptami), jednak ich ostateczny zakres i forma – od prostych figur geometrycznych po marmurowe rzeźby czy kwiaty – zależą od celowego ruchu aktorów, ich odległości od kamery oraz gry ciałem. 

Jednym z najważniejszych elementów odsłony festiwalowej jest aktywna rola publiczności. Widzowie nie są jedynie biernymi odbiorcami. Po zakończeniu performansu mają możliwość wejścia w interakcję z kamerami. Dzięki temu każdy uczestnik może stać się współtwórcą unikatowej sztuki, obserwując, jak jego własny ruch generuje niepowtarzalny, cyfrowy obraz. 

Prezentacja podczas Festiwalu LALKANIELALKA doskonale koresponduje z hasłem przewodnim tegorocznej edycji: „Future”. Wydarzenie to eksploruje możliwości, jakie oferują nowe technologie (sztuczna inteligencja, rzeczywistość wirtualna), zestawiając je z klasycznymi metodami teatralnymi i ożywianiem formy. 

Projekt impAKT-INterior to próba nowej formy artystycznej, która pozwala pokazać potencjał białostockich uczelni oraz zaangażować mieszkańców miasta w proces tworzenia nowoczesnego teatru formy 

impAKT-INterior is the latest edition of the interdisciplinary impAKT project, the result of a unique collaboration between Białystok University of Technology (the Forma Student Research Group and the AuReLa Laboratory) and a creative team composed of students and faculty from three programmes at the Aleksander Zelwerowicz National Academy of Dramatic Art in Warsaw, Branch Campus in Białystok: Acting, Directing, and Puppet Theatre Technology. 

The project offers an innovative fusion of theatre and artificial intelligence (AI). The theme of impAKT-INterior is inspired by the concept of a “digital mirror,” in which a person can observe how technology interprets them within a specific environment. Each edition of the project explores a different aspect of this relationship. In this iteration, the creators investigate the influence of space through the interaction between a live performer in a realistic environment and a figure manipulated within a scale model. Their movements are captured by cameras and transformed in real time by AI algorithms into dynamic digital visualisations that fill the surrounding space. 

The performance explores the boundaries of artistic expression in the digital age. Although the visualisations are generated through complex text prompts, their final appearance and scope – from simple geometric forms to marble sculptures or flowers – depend on the performers’ intentional movements, their distance from the camera, and the expressive use of their bodies. 

One of the key elements of the festival version of the project is the active involvement of the audience. Spectators are not merely passive observers. Following the performance, they are invited to interact directly with the cameras. In doing so, each participant becomes a co-creator of a unique artwork, witnessing how their own movements generate one-of-a-kind digital images in real time. 

The presentation at the PUPPETNOPUPPET Festival closely aligns with this year’s theme, “Future.” The event explores the possibilities offered by emerging technologies – including artificial intelligence and virtual reality – while placing them in dialogue with traditional theatrical practices and the animation of form. 

impAKT-INterior is an experiment in creating a new artistic language. At the same time, it showcases the creative potential of Białystok’s academic institutions and actively engages local communities in the process of creating contemporary theatre of form.
